In Studio 5, we had a really great time to work on our passions and achieve something unique. Therefore, I represented this piece of artwork to show how relevant was studio 5 to me.
The missiles which I also decorated with chalks and other extraordinary equipment represent the skills which I improved during PYPx. For example, the skill I needed the most in studio 5 is to collect and earn data from what I inquired because if you want to inform others with the information you have, you need to organize it simply to let the audience who sees my data understand what I’m saying. However, I think I did a poor job of presenting my research to others because I didn’t organize the information of what I researched clearly, so people didn’t understand the main idea I’m informing to them.
The holes which I decorated with chalks represent the attitudes that changed during my PYPx. For example, around those things, the biggest change represented in the artwork is independence because the way of learning in studio 5 changed in a huge difference. Therefore, you needed to take care of your own priority, prepare your own materials and etc. However, the attitude I least developed that is represented in this artwork is having empathy because you often work independent in studio 5, so I haven’t got a chance to practice understanding other people’s emotions depending on the situation there in.
Also, the holes represent as I work towards motivation during this amazing unit, I demonstrated autonomy, mastery, purpose because I self directed myself to take new challenges, fail forward and have final success towards my motivation. For example, as I took actions towards my learning of political situations of South Korea, I wanted to create a documentary to teach others about it. Therefore, I self directed and made self improvement to myself to try new ways of filming by learning from mistakes which I have made over the last weeks. However, I had a problem not being able to find new ways to innovate my documentary. So, I asked an expert to teach me how to take a great informal film of mine over and over again until I get it. After having a new idea from him, I was able to take an amazing motivation film.
Finally, the paint dots I made with different colors represent during the PYPx journey, I learned various lessons about myself which might influence my life depending on how I use it. The most relevant life lesson for me is that no matter how much you fail, I never give up because nobody can be perfect unless you try, try and try until you will get better at it and more motivated to it. For example, when I was trying to inquire through how to use adobe after effects create magnificent animations, I made loads of mistakes, but I never gave up and later, became an expert of using it. Keep on being committed to things and never give up until you accomplish something because around every effort you put into something, at least one of them will be successful. Also, you can learn from your mistakes and develop yourself even more for the future.
The Infinite Project ended. However, there is an another project coming up! That project is called the infinite project 2.0!!! In this project, I have lots of excitements because I can learn new things which I have never learned before and practice new skills which I needed to work on in the last project. This is my plan for this project.
What I can do is first, is to email Mr.Frank because in the last project, I struggled to find him due to not discussing with him about his schedule which can be serious waste of time.
Also, just in case, I should watch some documentaries and record some facts in my note book to use it for my piece of film. Furthermore, I will be using animating apps in my devices such as i movie, adobe after effects and adobe illustrator because if I'm so interested in this that I do this at school, I think I should definitely do it as home as well.
I hope next week, I will have some accomplishments.
In February 28th 2018, me and my parents did a student led conference to understand how autonomy, mastery, purpose impacts motivation. It was fun expressing ourselves to our parents and let them experience the story of my life as a studio 5 student because they can enjoy wht does it feel like to be motivated. These are the things that happened in the conference.
1. My parents expressed their passion in iMovie.
2. My parents solved the ping pong math problem and the olympic math as well.
3. My parents had a debate with me of saying can robots conquer humans.
What Went Well During the Conference
What went well in the conference is that my mom participated in various activities patiently and effectively because I didn't saw her look at her handphone even once and it felt like she was right into it.
What Questions did my Parents have after the Confrence
After the conference, my parents had a question of how does motivation impacts children to learn because for them, even if they get a new job, something they never tried before, it doesn't feel right for them, but for us if we inquire through new things, we will be interested to it and learn about it to become what we want to be. I think motivation impacts children to learn more than an adult because as an adult, you willl have more serious responsibilities than a child. Therefore, they will have less chances to experience what they're interestedin due to having worries of how are going to earn money and survive.
What Feedbacks did you get from your Parents
As the conference about to finish, I gave my parents a sheet of paper to give me some feedback of how can I improve. My parents wrote two stars and one wishes of how did the conference go in that piece of paper.
Star: I am inquire through new discoveries
Star: I was active when doing activities during the conference.
Wish: My Parents wish I was more serious
I think I can improve on what my parents wished by understanding the rules of different assemblies or celebrations and control my behavior depending on how relevant it is.
What did you want your Parents to See
I wanted to let my parents experience what does it feels like to be interested, determined to something because my parents had never experienced doing what they really want to do due of being busy everyday and going to a company or doing house works which is exhausting and not part of motivation.
How can my Parents help me on my Next Unit
My parents can help me by asking an expert they know outside of school because in the last unit, I struggled and struggled to create a documentary not because I didn't know what to do. It's because I didn't have an expert who had lots of experiences to lead me to success. Therefore, I want somebody with lots of experiences teach me lots of new ways that I can improve.
How can my Parents help me to Improve
My parents can help me to improve by planning what creative things I can add in my documentary because they lived in Korea for 10 years, so I know they have the knowledge, the experience to help me put all of them in action into one piece.
For the conclusion, I hope this conference can lead me to a great start of my unit.
Studio 5 is all about moving forward towards your motivation. You need to understand and demonstrate autonomy, mastery and purpose to create success and hinges through motivation. For infinite weeks, we studio 5 students will be working on a project called the infinite week project to take relevant actions to achieve our goals.
My goal is to learn how to develop South Korea at all costs such as economy, technology, government, and etc so that I have organizations of ideas when I'm old enough to take responsibilities of my own. I have chose to take action for this goal because many powerful countries such as the USA are making orders to show their power. Therefore, South Korean citizens as well as the government would be threatened to lose their politics to an another country who is joining the Korean Conflict. However, if we grow our power, many countries joining the conflict wouldn’t make fun of us and we would be peaceful after all.
How will I do this project? Well, since I learned a lot from the 6 weeks project, I'm going to use that knowledge to open workshops and teach about Korea to other people. The workshop's topic would be history, technology, economy, government and etc about South Korea. I chose this as my topic for my workshop because it can help me express myself to others that my soul and my heart is all connected to these subjects.
I think it would be easy to teach using slides in my workshop so, I must add a new folder in google drive and add google slide files about teaching others during my workshop. Also, during 6 week project, I didn't document my learning that well so, I for got every amazing things I have done during that unit. Therefore, I will document my learning this time on weebly to look forward to the fast and embrace the chaos.
There will be lots of skills I need to work on as well. For math, I will need to work on data handling information that I have earned because if I use an unorganized information for my workshop, audiences would mess up and won't understand what I'm saying. Also, I need to work on literacy skills because I need to work as a community with the audiences in order for them to understand question and have a new thought to what I'm saying.
I hope this unit is far more fantastic than the last unit.
The Winter Olympics!!! One of the celebrations which you never want to miss has came here at last in Pyeongchang, South Korea. In this Olympic, you might discover extraordinary things which you have never experienced during the last few Olympics. One of these things include one of the most interested winter sports for South Korea, Short Track Speed Skating. Lets find out what is this sport and how did it influenced South Korea.
What is Short Track Speed Skating
This is the short track ice arena in South Korea. All the entertaining races took place here. However, all of this can't work with a specific goal or else the celebration might turn into chaos. The racing track of the arena is 111.12 m long and depending on how much distance you need to race for, you need to do a lap up to 5, 12, 27... times. Unlike normal speed skating, in short track, the ranking is more relevant than the time you cross the finish line.
What kind of Matches are there in Short Track
In short track, the matches separate into 2 different groups. The men's and the women's match. Then, for each gender, it will separate into 4 different games. These include the 500m, 1,000m, 1,500m for both genders, 3,000m relay for only women, and the 5,000m relay for only men. To win the games, you need to advance through the tryouts, quarterfinals, semifinals and depending on your ranking in the semifinal, you will be decided to advance through the final A or the final B. If you want to win a medal, you should probably advance to the final A because that's where you get the highest percentage to win a medal.
Rules of Short Track
Every matches will have its own specific rules. Even though, you have a certain goal for the game without the rules, once again, the game will turn out to be chaos. These rules include keeping the race safe and fair the most important part, have fun!!!
Off track is a skill which is used by players to take the lead from the outside due to the inside lane blocked by other players. When using this skill, there is a slightly chance that your hands might invade other player's lane, so you need to be careful not to interrupt them while racing.
Assistance is a skill used in a relay to assist their team players to let them take their turn to do a lap. You can use this skill to protect your lane from other players give your team player some more speed. However, while giving assistance, you need to be aware of not blocking the players from the race by showing impediment or accidentally tripped while impeding. If you fall off just before your teammates are ready to take the assistance the teammates can touch any part of your body to get the assistance.
A penalty is a specific punishment which is given to players when they do something that can hurt other players while racing. You can get a penalty when you do bad hand movements to other players, invade other player's lane or do a false start. If you get a penalty, that means you can't continue that specific game anymore until it's over in a celebration like the Olympics.
False start is an irregular start when a player starts the race without the shooting gun which represents starting the game. If you have one false start at the beginning, you will have one more chance. The person who did the false start in the 2nd start, with no mercy, will get a penalty.
An impeding is a hand movement which is used in short track to cause impediment to other players. If the impeding might be able to hurt other players or affect their race poorly, they will get a penalty. Currently, the ISU are watching over impeding movements and gave lots of penalties to other people during the Olympics just because they little bit touched other player's hands.
History of Short Track Speed Skating(South Korea)
The long awaited journey begins during the short track world championship held in Japan in 1983, when Korean men and women players faced off against many opponents from different countries the first time. As soon as the championship finished, in 1985, the South Korea National Short Track Team was formed. At this period, special constructions were being held to train players efficiently and turn them into something far more superior then what they think of. Because of this construction, in 1990, the national team of South Korea turned to be one of the world's best short track team in just short periods of time. Since then, the team kept on trying their best to improve until now, they're having huge interests to win 7 gold in the Olympics.
World Record Holders
Currently, the South Korean national short track team have a world record of 6/11 games. That means South Korea set the world record around half of the games already in a short period of time. That is impressive because for them to have high scores, they need to train a lot, but it is hard to do so. Therefore, we can say that South Korea is the emperor of the short track universe. These are the current world record holders today for South Korea.
For conclusion, I hope you have watched the Olympics with joy and encouraged the short track national team of South Korea.
During the Cold War, there were 2 global forces who showed the world dominance. The democratic side of the U.S.A and the opposing communist side of the Soviet Union. In 1991, the Soviet Union was officially destroyed defining the end of the conflict. However, there was still one country who threatens U.S.A until now. There was one country who was influenced by Soviet Union and followed its legacy. That country is China.
After the Cold War, China's economy grew really fast. They built progressive exports, they also became strengthen their military forces to show dominance over democracy.
So, what power does China have to face off against United States? Well, this is the top 3 ranking of armories from China which can be dangerous to United States in my opinion.
3. Type 094A Class Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN)
There are 2 types of nuclear submarines in the world. The first type is the nuclear ballistic missile submarine(SSBN). The systems of the machinery are all operated by nuclear generators which generate enough energy to activate the submarine. However, the most dangerous part of it is that it has several nuclear ballistic missiles which can turn the entire world into bloodbath. The other type of the submarine is the Nuclear Anti-Ship Missile Submarine(SSN). As well as the SSBN, it is also powered with nuclear generators starting the systems. However, it has more torpedoes and anti-ship missiles to target down other submarines, battleships and even jet fighters. Among these types, the Type 094A Submarine is a SSBN.
Before these giant of the seas were invented, China did not have enough skills to construct their own SSBN. Apart from United States and Soviet Union, their SSBNs had disadvantages such as making loud noises while moving which makes it easier for the enemies to target it and the range of the ballistic missiles were too short that it couldn't even reach distances up to 9,000 km. Furthermore, it couldn't attach various types of missiles when needed in certain situations. Then, China found a solution to these problems and was able to alarm several countries.
This titan of the ocean truly is effective. Its length is up to 133 meters long, weighs 8,000 tons and is called one of the deadliest submarines in China. Inside this machine are 12 deadly ballistic missiles which can certainly reach distances up to United States to deal serious damage to the entire nation. Also, its fire power has improved by several miles. Before being upgraded to the Type 094A, the Type 094 SSBN had weak fire power which sent ballistic missiles only up to distances of 8,000 km. As it innovated, the fire power increased the range of the ballistic missiles up to 11,200 km. That's a great improvement! Furthermore, it has a noise reduction system to improve its survival against the enemies as well as developed sonar to detect and target them without any consequences.
Soon, this beast of the seas might be able to be actually placed in the Chinese military to show United States to watch their step. However, the conflict will continue as China keeps on trying to innovate their old SSBNs into other newer types. For example, the Type 094A SSBN is planned to be innovated into Type 096 SSBN.
2. DF-ZF Hyper-sonic Glide Vehicle (HGV)
Have you ever heard China can attack anytime at anywhere within just 1 hour? Yes, they surely can. This is the DF-ZF Hyper-sonic Glide Vehicle. It's a vehicle which can glide through Earth's atmosphere and shoot nuclear projectiles with great speed.
How does the DF-ZF Hyper-sonic Glide Vehicle (HGV) Work?
The way this armory works is kind of similar to a ballistic missile. First, it launches itself to the Earth's atmosphere with ballistic missile propulsion which can take this dangerous machine up to as high as 100 km high. Then, a vehicle will separate itself from the warhead. Later, it will control it's direction and glide through the target. Finally, it will drop bombs, missiles and etc to enemy's military system.
Speed of the DF-ZF Hyper-sonic Glide Vehicle (HGV)
As it glides, the speed of this weapon will easily reach up to mach 5-6. However, if necessary, it can reach speeds up to mach 10. That is approximately 3 times faster than Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird which is one of the fastest strategic reconnaissance aircraft in the world, which reaches speed up to mach 3.
How far can the DF-ZF Hyper-sonic Glide Vehicle (HGV) Go in 1 Hour
Also, the speed of it reach distances about 12,240 km/h and China's biggest enemy, the U.S is 10,000 km away. This defines that it can certainly reach United States when shot from the Chinese borders. Furthermore, we can't forget that this progress can happen just within per hour.
Advantages of the DF-ZF Hyper-sonic Glide Vehicle (HGV)
However, an Inter Continental Ballistic Missile(ICBM) is twice as faster than it. It can reach speeds up to mach 20-25. Therefore, the Chinese ICBMs can strike the U.S borders within just 30 minutes. Although faster at speed, this subject has other disadvantages. For example, as it launches itself and fly towards the cities of U.S, the Air Defense Network Systems which many were already stationed by the government, will easily target it. However, the DF-ZF HGV can control its directions, avoid as well as weaken incoming interceptor missiles from the networks including THAAD(Terminal High Altitude Area Defense). Also, it can carry nuclear warheads and target several regions at once.
Threats of the DF-ZF Hyper-sonic Glide Vehicle
Using this weapon is really dangerous. It can give a great impact to the world and change it into a planet with no life and hope. The conflict will still rage on as United States and Russia try to encounter China's HGV with their own ones. Currently, United States invented the X-51A Wave-Rider while Russia added their own Hyper-sonic Missile called Zircon on to their collection.
The Most Threatening Of All Time for United States
We have so far checked top 2 weapons from China which threatens United States. Now, it's finally the time to introduce the number one armory which can devastate United States apart. What can be this subject? Let's find out!
1. DF-21D Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile
This armory is one of the first anti-ship ballistic missile in the world as it shows dominance over the seas. The way it shows dominance can be really brutal to United States and other Naval forces from other countries. I will give you a hint of how can this be devastating. There are U.S warships stationed all over relevant regions of the Pacific including the Coast of Japan and Korea. This defines a threat to China so, they have created this anti-ship ballistic missile to stand up against those elite forces from Untied States. That's why it is feared from many countries especially U.S. due to possibility of having fatal casualties and losing expensive technology. It even has a nickname which is called the 'Aircraft Carrier Killer'.
What is DF-21D Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile
This type of missile is developed from the type DF-21 Medium-Range Ballistic Missile(MRBM) which is a ballistic missile used in land combats. However, as it innovated into different types, the DF-21D Ballistic Missile was known to strike naval forces making it a threat to many other countries.
How Does the DF-21D Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile Work
The way this missile works is just like any ballistic missiles. First, it will launch itself towards Earth's atmosphere with ballistic missile propulsion which is powerful enough to break through tough gravitational levels. Then, it will release the warhead towards enemy battleships to strike them down. Finally, depending on the speed the ship is moving, it will control its directions and target it as soon as they can. Its range easily reaches distances up to 1,300 km and if necessary, it can even reach distances up to 3,000 km. That is one deadly missile!!!
However, this progress isn't that simple. Before striking, first, they need to detect the movements of U.S warships with satellites or unmanned aerial vehicles to earn and organize the data they've got. Then, they need to shoot the ballistic missile and it needs to transfer the data to enemy battleships to trick them into a trap. Finally, the missile's ballistic needs to control its direction and target it within short periods of time. The time limit of accomplishing this is 10-20 minutes if they were to strike down enemy carriers with no consequences. We should be surprised that China has made this kind of technology.
Advantages of the DF-21D Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile
Now, time to talk about what these things really do.
Firstly, the operational range of an aircraft carrier is about 1,000 km and the missile's range easily reach distances over that. That way, it can attack anywhere at anytime in the pacific borders and repel any U.S forces coming to Korea & Japan.
Now, several U.S destroyers could target any threats incoming for their relevant naval supplies, but China upgraded their anti-ship ballistic missile once again so now, it can separate its nuclear projectiles into different regions and spin while doing this which makes them reaching speeds up to mach 10. Therefore, it is impossible to target them with interceptor missiles and it is just an matter of time until it strikes any naval forces which comes in their way.
Threats to DF-21D Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile
This Chinese ballistic missile seems to be impossible to repel, but actually there is no such as thing as impossible. If it is impossible, you need to make it possible. U.S made a strategy to intercept China's most terrifying anti-ship missile. The strategy is to send unmanned fighters to strike any anti-ship ballistic missiles on Chinese borders before it reaches any relevant warships for combat. However, the range of the fighters are about 1,000 km so, it will run out of fuel before it even reaches Asia. Therefore, it is being arranged with unmanned aerial tankers to refuel other fighters while in battle to increase the range of it up to 3,000 km. This might be an efficient way because this operation could deal with less casualties and money. However, we don't know yet how is China going to threaten United States with this armory in the future.
The DF-21D Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile has been a true terror throughout the world. As China upgrades its weaponry collection, the battlefront of the Pacific would even burn up more. Well, as we learn these subjects we need to hope that these things are never used in real life to keep peace and hope in Earth.
