By the end of this project, I hoped to create a full marathon of documentaries about the topic, Pyeongchang Olympics 2018. However, I have only done about 50 Percent of it and I am still having trouble facing up against 3D animations which the animations don’t appear.
Success and Hinges Towards This Unit
I think what worked out very well during this unit is that I asked for help from experts to master new things and use it into my learning. For example, I was struggling towards finding a new way to stay away from the comfort zone of 2D animations. Then, looked for an expert who guided me the during the last unit. The expert's name was Mr.Frank. As I tell him what I'm struggling on, he have told me an idea to show effects on 3D animations, import it to iMovie and record my voice on garageband to create an interesting documentary. I was relieved that I had this expert with me. I quickly act with his ideas and almost created a cooler, more interesting and detailed piece of my mine called the Short Track Speed Skating of Pyeongchang. What hinged was that I wasted time only to watch short track videos in YouTube which resulted of having less time to take actions to my project. For example, when I was animating the trailer to make the documentary cooler, it took so much time. Therefore, I had less time to work on my main theme which is the documentary.
Advantages of This Unit
This unit had more unusual advantages than other units because as well as working towards my motivation, I can work with various themes of units at the same time. These themes include WWA, HWEO, WWAIPAT, and HTOW. I think I experienced the theme, HWOO(How We Organize Ourselves) the most. The reason is because I needed lots of equipment for me to film the documentary so, I couldn’t afford to lose even a single of them. For example, the equipment I needed to film the documentary were a laptop, iPad and etc. Without them I wouldn’t be able to inform, capture and edit the things I worked on that well. Also, a documentary needed to be a high quality so, without them, I would be just wasting time. Furthermore, I also needed to experience the theme of STP and HWEO to express my motivation to other people from this school and perhaps students from other countries as well.
Also, you can get to know lots of knowledge about what you’re interested to in this unit. During working on my motivation priorities, I wanted to learn the meaning of the olympics to olympic athletes by looking at their perspective. In order to do that, I needed to research and understand various topics of olympic sports because you need to earn specific information to know how difficult it is to prepare for this huge celebration. I think I have successfully learned about these things because I checked different videos in YouTube from others to find out many different qualitative and quantitative sources spliced together as an information. In addition, I tried to master understanding these knowledge and used it as a high quality topic of my documentary. I think I could have done it better by visual note-taking the knowledge I earned in my notebook because I can organize all of the data I’ve got in an easier way and choose the most interesting ones. Furthermore, it can be an evidence of me learning and understanding new things.
In addition, this project had lots of skills I still needed to work on to achieve my goals. For example, I used the skill of being independent solving challenging problems because it is not that good to depend on others to let them take too much parts of your project without you not putting effort.
Furthermore, observing animation movement using numbers was the most integrated math skill of my learning because the animations work with numbers in after effects, so I needed to use the right transformation to make sure not to mess up with my animations. For example, for 2D animations, there might be simple transformations, but if you move on to the 3D animations, things start to get more complicating since there are even things like Y-axis rotation and etc...
Also, I used a literacy skill of using qualitative words when I wrote my blog because without great expressions of informing, the article wouldn’t be that interesting. In order to use efficient words to explain about my documentary’s topic, I needed to learn how to use variety of sources such as a Thesaurus and a Dictionary. I developed this skill by replacing words which I have already used and edit it to make sure it makes sense and innovate my writing better.
As well as learning new things and practicing new skills, I have learned how to use resources effectively for my project. For example, before taking my documentary I have used YouTube videos made by others who have interest to this olympic because their topics are connected to my motivation and they have some knowledge so, I can learn and understand lots of information from them and use it.
Documenting my Learning
I think I documented my learning well because unlike the last project, I shared my inspiration with others at least one blog in a week lots of images and videos to show others about it and earn feedback. However, I think I could have done it better by writing a blog everyday because I wanted to share fully my story of reaching my goals, but I only wrote 1 blog per week, so it wasn’t challenging for me and other people might not understand my story very well if I keep on doing like that.
Autonomy Towards Motivation
As I work towards motivation during this amazing unit, I demonstrated autonomy. The reason I’m saying this is that I self directed myself to take new challenges, fail forward and have final success towards my motivation. For example, as I took actions towards my learning of winter olympics of South Korea, I wanted to create a documentary to teach others about it. Therefore, I self directed myself to try new ways of animating and filming by learning from mistakes which I have made over the last weeks. However, I had a problem not being able to find new ways to find resolutions to my animation. So, I asked an expert to teach me how to create a great animation of mine over and over again until I got it. After having a new idea from him, I was able to make an amazing motivating animation.
The Future of My Motivation
I will be keep working on my project because so far I am not doing a bad job studying about political situations of South Korea and inform about it as a documentary. Also, I’m interested to work on things which I can use to innovate my documentary. Furthermore, my dream of developing South Korea would never fall as I try my best to improve myself.
The goal for my future is to develop South Korea at all costs such as economy, technology, government, and etc. I have chose to take action for this goal because many powerful countries such as the USA is making orders to show their power. Therefore, South Korean citizens as well as governments would be threatened to lose their politics to an another country which is joining the Korean Conflict. However, if we grow our power, many countries joining the Korean Conflict wouldn’t ignore us and we would be peaceful after all(I hope).
This goal would be able to motivate me. Just so you know, motivation is an attitude formed with autonomy, mastery and purpose. These are the reasons why this goal motivates me. First, I’m self directing myself to take action of my goal and nobody has told me what to do to achieve this goal(Autonomy). Also, as a eleven year old child, I can’t take huge actions to develop South Korea. Therefore, I’m trying my best to learn the present South Korea to develop it into the future South Korea(Mastery). Furthermore, I want to learn more about the political situations about South Korea and play with my creativity to find solution about it.
For the conclusion, I hope you learnt a lot about me and enjoy my blogs as I pass on the inspiration to all of you guys who are reading this blog. Let this blog inspire us all!!!
